Hi,
I am new to the 855 world. I have an owners manual on order (for about 3 weeks now) at my local dealer and it still hasn't come in. I wanted to know if someone could tell me how to remove the grill from the front of the tractor. I want to check the air filter and I can't figure out how to get to it. If it's like the rest of the tractor, it probably needs to be serviced. I am thinking the previous owner didn't do anything with it since he said he had it for only 6 months and never changed the oil.

Thanks

I don't know about JD's very much at all, let alone the 855, but most tractors have remioveable side panels which give you access to almost everything that needs service.

Best of luck. ....

Hi Murf,
Thanks for advice. I had the side panels last night to change a fan belt and I definately need to get behind the grill for the air filter.

Thanks anyway. ....

If it's something that needs servicing as often as an air filter there must be an easy way in.

On my Kubota theres a little chrome doo-dad that looks like a hood ornamaent, when you turn it the whole front of the cowling folds forwards.

Best of luck. ....

Alan,

It should be the same as the 755 I used to have: there are two (I think) flat quarter turn washers that you turn and slip through an eylet, then the grill will pivot out. The battery should be there also. ....

Thanks guys. I will look when I get home tonight.

JD Fanatic, can you tell me where they are approxomately? I looked it over pretty good last night and didn't see anything like that but if I knew where to look I could probably spot it.

Thanks again.

Alan ....

Alan,

It's ten years ago, and two tractors later, so I'm a little fuzzy on the exact details, but remember it was easy to access. Tomorrow I need to stop by my dealer and will see what I can find out or if they have a 55 series to look at.

Cheers

Thanks a bunch. I am sure that I will be able to figure it out tonight. I don't want you to go to any trouble tomorrow. I will post here if I figure it out.

Thanks again. I appreciate it.

Well, got the grill off. I think it was supposed just pull straight off but someone put screws in it to hold it in place. It must have kept coming off on them or something.

Thanks for all the help. ....
